The Red Cross is a humanitarian group that's made up of several international organizations. The Red Cross serves victims of wars and natural disasters.

The Red Cross is a broad movement of national and international societies, including the American Red Cross and the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. Red Cross is an umbrella term for all of these interconnected groups. You might say, "I donated blood at the Red Cross yesterday," or "The Red Cross was passing out bottled water after the flood." The organization is usually called the Red Crescent in majority Muslim countries.
